Electronics Design Engineering Opportunity at Sycos
The successful applicant will need to be
formally qualified, preferably to degree level or above, and have at least 10 years
experience in designing digital circuitry, principally using modern gate array
design tools. Experience of the avionics industry would be an advantage but not
a necessary qualification. The candidate will be part of a small team and will
need to be able to work unassisted, given specific requirements to design new
products. The successful applicant will be responsible for the electronic
circuit design and commissioning of new products and will be supported by a
printed circuit board design engineer, software engineer and electronics
technician. Sycos has many products in its portfolio and these will formulate
the basis for development of new products. For this reason, the following
disciplines will be an advantage for the successful applicant:
- Digital Electronic
Circuit Design, preferably using Altera gate array development tools, or
Xylinx as a second choice.
- Experience with
the following host computer bus architectures:
- VMEbus
- ISAbus
(PC-ATbus)
- PCIbus
- PCMCIAbus
- Experience in
avionics bus architectures would be an advantage. Those buses defined by
Aeronautical Radio Incorporated (ARINC) are of principle interest.
- Experience of
analogue circuit design using FETs and OP Amps would also be useful.
- Experience in
writing ‘C’ code would be an advantage.
- Familiarity with
PCB design tool PADS Perform or Protel would be useful to provide
efficient interface to the pcb design engineer.
- Design
documentation and control to ISO9000 recognised standard.
The successful applicant will, in collaboration with the Software
Engineer, produce product User Manuals, which are part of the finished product,
and support customer enquiries as becomes necessary.
The ability to work within a small team is an essential requirement for any successful applicant.
